When and what is National Adoption Day?
National Adoption Day was founded in 2000 and occurs annually in November, on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The National Adoption Day Web site states:
"National Adoption Day is a collective national effort to raise awareness of ...children in foster care waiting to find permanent, loving families."
The national Web site: http://www.nationaladoptionday.org, has information about the goals of the current year's National Adoption Day, events by state, event planning materials, adoption information, and other background and media information.
At the beginning of November each year, The Washington State Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) publishes a press release about the current year's National Adoption Day campaign in Washington State. This press release includes information on participating courts, the purpose of the Washington Supreme Court Commission on Children in Foster Care, statistical information about children in foster care in Washington State and in the nation, and other information. Please see the Washington Courts Press Releases page for current and past years' press releases.
If you wish to receive an e-mail notification when new press releases are published, you can subscribe to this service on the Notification Services page of the Washington Courts Web site.
